What is pedophilia then ?

There is a huge confuse about this word. Sometimes it even seems that every person understands something different by it. Generally, people tend to understand pedophilia as:
1. Sexual abuse of children, mostly by ruthless malicious and calculative perverts, with no moral limits, or by just anyone who regardless of reason molested a child.
2. Psychiatric disease, whe the one affected has something wired wrong in his head, and so he is attracted to children instead of adults, while automatically it is expected he must have a problem with self-control.

Term No.1 is completly absurd. If judged by it, a drunkard , who raped a 12 year old girl because he for the moment he lost all his moral boundaries and there was no adult female at hand (even if he is attracted to adult women), would be a pedophile. And a man who is sexually attracted almost exclusively to children, but had a sexual intercourse only with adult women, wouldn't be one. The tireless propagator of this meaning of the term are mostly the media.

Term No.2 is much more logical. Pedophilia is listed in both american and european catalogue of mental diseases. It stems from understandable assumption, that if someone is attracted to children, he cannot be "normal" and somehow it is automatically assumed that if the person is "abnormal" in one issue, it will be in others (like self-control, morality, responsibility, ability to perceive consequencis of one's actions etc.) An interesting point of fact is, thatnot so long ago it was homosexuality that was perceived that way. Today, no sane person expects that every gay person is automatically a slithery, emasculate fulsome pseudo-man with no morality. But pedophilia remains that way.

What is pedophilia anyway ? Shortly, it is a preferential sexual attraction to pre-pubescent children.
This is how today's sexuology defines it. So to be a pedophile, one must be attracted more to children, then to adults. It's completely irrelevant whether one molests the children or not, whether he loves them or hates them, whether he is mentally ill or healthy. It's just like heterosexuality in this matter. It's defined by attraction to opposite sex. Any other attributes are irrelevant to this attraction.

But there are some attribute, we can find as standard, "typical" for heterosexuality. Being in love, care, tenderness, desire to share the good and the bad. Desire to have a family. The emotional and social fulfillment of living with someone who we love and who cares for us and we for him. Even if it doens't always work that way, we all know this is natural.

But pedophiles are robbed of the right to even have any similar feelings. As if a pedophile wasn't capable of love, apprehension for someone, as if he doesn't have the need to makes someone happy and share the happiness. As if th eonly thing he is capable of is "the urge".
