FAVOURITE MISTAKES

Pedophiles are only male.
This is not true. In our society, no one expects from a man to commit his free time and love to children not of his own, and that he will express his love openly (i.e. by hugging them). Such expressions of love are seen as something common in women. As a kind of a "mother instinct". So a woman who is affectionate towards children is seen without suspicion. Unlike a man. The woman also does not necessarily have to suspect that her feelings are more than just an "ordinary" love for children.

Molested children turn into pedophiles.
There is no scientific research to confirm this. Moreover, such a claim has no basis. Maybe it is based upon the fact, that children from broken families and in bad social and family conditions often tend to live in a similar way. It is possible that a child which was raised in a emotionless and cruel environment without love and moral boundaries, will proceed to live the same way in his adulthood, as he didn't have any positive role models. But sexual attraction has absolutely nothing to do with that. Most pedophiles I know come from standard families.

Pedophiles molest children because they are too weak and can't do it with an adult woman.
And had they not been "week", they would go on to abuse an adult woman ? Is it common for heterosexuals to abuse women ? If someone abuses a child because he doesn'r dare to copulate with an adult, he is not a pedophile, because the child is only a substitute and not his preferred sexual partner.

Pedophiles do not care for children, all they care for is their own satisfaction.
I don't say this is NEVER true. Such people do exist across all sexual attractions. It is nonsense to claim this, because we may also calim that parents do not love their children and maltreat them, only because it really hapnes in some cases. We know it is rarely so and it's not the norm.

Pedophiles are a danger to children, if not under medical treatment..
Many people think, that just because pedophilia is in a disease list (wrongly not only in my opinion), that there is some medicine for it. It's true that a person who can'r control himself and is dangerous to himself and his community, must be treated in some way and be watched. But if someone has a predisposition to harass or rape women, he is not being treated for heterosexuality. He is treated for something else. If a pedophile is self-accepting, is not a sociopath and acts responsibly, he needs no cure. Frankly, there is nothing he could be cured for.

Pedophilia is sick, because children should be treated as children and not as adult sexual partners.
The child is not an equal adult sexual partner for a pedophile. Pedophile love children because they are children. And not only in body, but in soul as well. Naturalness, energy, a kind of childish naivity and idealism, childish behavior, voice, outlook on the world, a hard to define innocence. These are all attributes very attractive for a pedophile. It would be against his interest to change them..
